NDO – The 2015 Vietnam Open officially kicked off at Lan Anh tennis club in Ho Chi Minh City on October 10.
The tournament, under the ATP Challenger Tour, has attracted top international tennis professionals, including Marcel Granollers (81st in the ATP rankings), James Duckworth (96th), and players in the top 300 rankings like Lee Duck Hee, Daniel Nguyen, Luke Saville and Jimmy Wang.
Two top Vietnamese players, Nguyen Hoang Thien and Ly Hoang Nam, also joined the tournament.
20 players will play in the qualifying round to select the four best for the main round.
The main round is scheduled to take place from October 12 with the participation of 32 players.
The tournament is expected to offer a good opportunity for Vietnamese tennis players to hone their skills with world-class rivals.
Total cash prizes will be worth up to US$50,000 and 90 points in ATP rankings.
The tournament will run until October 18.
